Ampelos Winery at Cordon Bleu Las Vegas
April 23, 2008 by vegasrenie
Wow. What an evening!
What *I thought* would be a regular evening of tasting on a Tuesday night turned into something much better. Not only was there a class in winemaking, but there were special treats afterwards.
Rebecca and Peter Work are the owners of Ampelos winery. It had been a dream of theirs and when they had the opportunity to acquire a piece of land in the beautiful Santa Rita Hills of California, they jumped at the opportunity.
On this night, Tuesday, April 15, they brought a few of their wines, their knowledge of the history of the grapes and of their wines, and enthralled the Cordon Bleu students and the members of the American Wine Society who attended the class.
After the class, which included tastings of their Viognier, Pinot Noir, and Syrache (a blend of a warm weather Syrah, a cool weather Syrah, and Grenache), the members of AWS and a few guests were treated to a tour of the Cordon Bleu facilities. Afterwards, we were treated to some wonderful foods which included Coq au Vin, a spicy linguine dish, and a mixed green salad with a vinaigrette-style dressing. Yummy.
We also had the opportunity to taste more of Ampelos wines, including their Barrel-Select Pinot Noir, Grenache, and Rosé. We also had the opportunity to experience a grilled Romaine salad.
But, hey! I could go on and on, but I’d rather that you experienced it yourself. Enjoy the slideshow! Afterwards, go visit Ampelos at their website.

Hi Irene,
I’m jealous. I enjoy reading about your unique wine tasting experiences but wish I was there with you to share the experience in person. Oh well…
I’ll see you at Marc’s on April 39th.
Regards,
Bruce
